Terroir

Azienda Agricola Eredi Cobelli Aldo: our interpretation of terroir

The wines of the Azienda Agricola Eredi Cobelli aim to represent the full expression of the terroir. A French term to which we are particularly attached. It describes the set of distinctive elements that makes a wine unique. By terroir we mean the unique interaction that exists between climate, man, vineyard and land.

CLIMATE: subalpine temperate with the influence of the “Ora del Garda”

Subalpine temperate, it does not present the typical harshness of Trentino Alto Adige. The Mediterranean air created by the "Ora del Garda" (a wind prevailing from Garda) allows for mitigated temperatures in the whole valley. Thanks to the sudden temperature changes between day and night, the grapes can ripen with good aromaticity and at the same time with the right acidity.

MAN: regenerative agriculture

In our concept of agriculture it is important to seek the right vegeto-productive balance between plants, without destroying the habitat in which they are cultivated. Focus on agronomic management is put into practice through: organic fertilisation;  inter-row tilling and grassing; reduction of mowing between the rows to promote biodiversity, the reduction of transit with tractors to a bear minimum to reduce soil compaction. All of these measures are practised with an old-fashioned flavour, visually confirmed by the  conservation of the traditional vineyard structure "a pergola semplice trentina".

GRAPEVINE: Gewürztraminer, Teroldego, Chardonnay, Nosiola.

Chardonnay, Nosiola, Gewürztraminer: our territory, due to climatic and pedological characteristics, is well suited to the cultivation of white vines. On the Hills of Sorni the balance of the factors listed above allows you to get to the right sugar / acidity ratio, which helps decide precisely when to harvest. For these varieties choice of the right harvesting time is very important, given the purpose of obtaining a long-lasting and high quality wine. Teroldego is a native grape variety and has the advantage of being one of the few reds able to reach the right ripeness every year.

TERRAIN: the CHALK of Azienda Agricola Eredi Cobelli.

The land from which the vineyards of the Azienda Agricola Eredi Cobelli draws life are located on a narrow vein of CHALK. Chalk is a sedimentary rock belonging to the class of the evaporites. Chalk comes from the transformation by evaporation of sea salts such as rock salt, calcite, and aragonite. This mineral, combined with loam and clay, offers unique pedological conditions compared to any other wine area in Trentino.
